Taste of childhood: make kvass like a barrel, but without bread

People have quenched their thirst with kvass for a very long time. And for many years a refreshing drink was poured on the street from large metal barrels. If you want to create a drink with the same taste, but very quickly, you can make it from very unusual products. To taste, it practically does not differ from bread kvass!

You will need:

  • cold water - five liters;
  • 650 grams of granulated sugar;
  • two tablespoons of chicory;
  • a pack of high-speed yeast (11 grams);
  • a teaspoon of citric acid

Chicory, sugar and citric acid are poured into a deep saucepan. The mixture is brought to a boil and immediately removed from heat. Now the future kvass needs to be cooled to the temperature of fresh milk, then add the yeast and leave for three hours. The readiness of the drink is determined by the resulting foam. After its appearance kvass can be put in the fridge for better taste.
